I’ve met Nel through the powers of the itnernets, and she’s been a great inspiration. I interviewed her on air this morning:

The Team Diabetes Program is quite simple – you join Team Diabetes by paying the $100 registration fee to walk or run one of the events. You thereby agree to fundraise for the Canadian Diabetes Association for your specific event (as noted above). Don’t worry, this is an achievable fundraising goal and we’ll help get you there! Fundraising
A Team Diabetes fundraising manual will help you plan your fundraising campaign. The manual provides an outline to assist develop your fundraising plan, suggest strategies to raise money and includes sample fundraising letters. Fundraising Deadlines are set over a period of four to six months prior to the event to help you stay on track with your fundraising and to ensure fiscal responsibility to all donors.
There are 3 fundraising deadlines and each deadline must be met otherwise participants will be asked for a refundable deposit to bring them up to the current goal or they will be transferred to another event for which they have achieved the fundraising goal. So, we recommend to start early and to aim to beat each deadline - with consistent effort from the start you will be successful!
All contributions go toward promoting health for Canadians through diabetes research, education, service and advocacy; and supporting the over two million Canadian living with diabetes.
Training
On-line Training is provided for all “national fundraising package” participants doing a full or half marathon and is delivered through the Running Room’s web based clinics. It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since I was picked Best Afternoon Drive Host in the Georgia Straight 2007 Best of Vancouver Poll. (it’s only been 10 mos since the results aren’t published until September)
It will take time, there’s a long list of categories to weave through, I’m eagerly campaigning to regain my Best Afternoon Host crown (tiara) but there are other categories in the media list this year, specifically in the online media category.
Blogs are big buzz in 2008, so don’t give that category a miss … scribble my name on the line. Or, you know, write your own in if you think your blog is better.
You have to answer at least 25 categories to have your ballot be valid and there are more than 100 different categories to choose from.
Don’t forget to write Bobby Ackles in the Local Football Hero slot, and Trevor Linden for the hockey one.
A lot of the categories are geared at the local scene, but part of the fun of this survey is writing in smart ass comments, so drop your best in the ballot box!

Yes, I Ustream my show so you can catch things live when I’m on the air.
I thought it would be fun to set up a time lapse for an hour so you could watch it in high speed. (BTW this is a video from the spring, I’m not wearing turtlenecks in July)
