Seen In Calgary #3: Oprah In A White Cowboy Hat

Oprah Winfrey | Calgary Saddledome | January 22, 2013

While Edmonton handed her a purse made to look like truck nuts, Calgary gave Oprah the traditional white-hatting.

The Smithbilt white hat first debuted in the 1940s and is now an iconic symbol of the city. The hat comes with its own white-hatting ceremony where it is bestowed on visitors as a symbol of Western hospitality. The ceremony makes visitors feel like a local, and encourages them to go forth and share with the world their experiences in Calgary. Yahoo!

Oprah was white-hatted before her appearance in Calgary, and opened her show strutting on stage in her Smithbilt. O looked great. See you at The Calgary Stampede!
