I did a behind-the-scenes look at Panasonic and CBC’s 3D Broadcast of the Heritage Classic hockey game this weekend and managed to have Zacharie tag along with me for a tour of the broadcast truck and about 30 minutes with our face pressed against the glass as the Calgary Flames and Montreal Canadiens alumni went through their warmup.

We followed the Habs down the tunnel onto the ice and then stood behind Vernon as Nieuwendyk, MacInnis and Conroy rifled shots at him. Fleury even tossed one off the glass on purpose to startle Zacharie. It was awesome.

The Tim Hortons 2011 Heritage Classic is actually part of a huge weekend of hockey in Calgary. The Faceoff in the Foothills also featured a match between the AHL affiliates of the Flames and Oilers, the alumni game, the NHL game and a WHL game between Regina and Calgary on Family Day Monday.

It was brutally cold (-18) for the alumni game and, thankfully, only the sunny side of the stands were open for fans to take in the two period game. Temperatures are said to warm up for Sunday’s NHL game.

Just another best day ever.
