Homesick
Photo by Carolyn Egerszegi Photography. All Rights Reserved.@dandoan just asked me on Twitter if I missed Vancouver.
Sure, I miss the water and the warmth and the green, but it’s not really all that consequential in my life. I’m going to go back this afternoon, and again at New Years and again in a few weeks and a few weeks after that. It’s only a 90minute flight, Vancouver isn’t going to move, it’ll always be there if I need it.
My family, however, is what I miss.
When I first lost my job and told Jen we would have to face the prospect of moving to another city for me to find work her response was simple. “A house is just a building. What’s inside is what matters. Family is what matters. If we are all together, wherever it is, that’s our home.”
My response to @dandoan was simple: “i miss my family. home is where your family is. cities are just places.”
In about 4 hours I’ll be in the embrace of my son and wife. It doesnt matter that it will be in the crowded arrival terminal at YVR. It could be in Seattle, Kelowna, Calgary or Copenhagen. The place doesnt matter. The instant I feel their squeeze I will be home.

Yeah, kinda like there's always a freight train on the tracks through downtown Calgary.
Welcome home, Buzz. So I take it you haven't purchased a place in Calgary yet? Or are you going to wait until the new bundle of joy to arrive before migrating the Bishop clan?
We have a place but dont move until Feb.

Just had a chance to catchup some blog posts. Brilliantly wrote, Buzz~ Glad you were home with your family for X'mas and the upcoming New Year~ Really miss your show here in Vancouver, but happy that you're back on air, even it's somewhere else!
Thanks for the note. Calgary's going to be a great place, but it's not “home” until February
