Buzz Bishop: Afternoon Delight
Virgin Vancouver is live. Whaddya think?
We’re trying to shake things up, do things differently, have some fun. Radio has long been treated as a broadcast medium, that means the communication goes one way.
We’re trying to turn this thing into a conversation, us talking to you, you talking to us on Text, Phone, Email, Blogs or Twitter.

To help break the ice, we’re starting by not taking ourselves too seriously. Nat and Drew are Morning Chatterboxes, our Promotions team belongs to the Ministry of Popaganda, our bosses are The Big Kahuna and Puppet Masters. I will be your Afternoon Delight every weekday from 3-6 as co-host of The Rush with Kuljeet Kaila.
Here’s our lunch time guy Kiah giving a tour of the Virgin Radio Factory just before we launched.
The Blog According to Buzz. Spread the word, ya heard?

Here’s a look around the building

I’m thrilled to see a broadcaster rolling the dice and breaking with the tried and true. I come from the medium, and was saddened to see it descend into a sea of sameness over the past decade or two. I can’t wait to see if your initiative takes root and influences others. Here’s hoping!
Buzz – your enthusiasm is infectious and its really making me miss radio!
I use my car as my shouting room, which I probably shouldn’t do as it distracts the wife when she’s trying to drive.
Here’s to improving radio for 2009!
Cheers!
Good luck, hope Virgin Vancouver lives up to it’s promise. While it’s nice to see a local station open up more channels of communication a fresh personality and tone leading to presumably more interesting content is most exciting. Might motivate me to listen to local radio again and put away my BBC Popradio badge for a while.
I just came across this new station in the car today. It sounds great so far, but there’s currently nothing on the website except for the player. I hope you guys will be adding more stuff, like a playlist, so I can keep up with what you’re playing. Keep it up!
The website had some issues at launch last week, so we had to pull it down to work on. Give us til the end of the week to have it all locked and loaded.
