Whichever side of the political spectrum you stand on, there’s one statement all can agree on: the parliamentary antics of the past week are a joke.
From Stephen Harper trying to poke the opposition in the eye, the Coalition calling his bluff after repeated bullying and ganging up together like some Mighty Morphin Power Ranger superhero.
It’s all legal, it’s all within parliamentary protocol, but it’s all missing the point - we’re in an economic crisis and we need stable leadership.
Harper threatened that by not abiding by the “conservative” measures a minority government needs to employ to ensure consensus and survival. The Coalition threatens that by calling a shotgun wedding amongst the left.
You have to ask yourself. What would Barack Obama do?
Would he resort to name calling and spin? Would he yell and scream and lie? Would he go on the attack with negative aggressive ads the second he didn’t get his way?
Or would he calmly, legitimately, without bias, try to reach consensus and understanding?
You have to really wonder, how different would things be if we had Barack Obama for Prime Minister.

I don’t know. We don’t even have Barack Obama as President yet. I’ll ask this question once I’ve seen him lead. Along the same lines, that’s why I want Harper to have his way on this one. He’s actually been Prime Minister before. Dion and Layton have been told by Canadians they have no business ruling. I think it’s interesting that the coalition supporters are saying something like 62% of people voted for this. The Angus Reid poll says the same number doesn’t want Dion as PM.
