John Chow is the blogstar that shines the brightest in the local community. Just for fun, he decided to monetize his blog and see how big he could grow it.

“John Chow dot Com started off as a personal blog to talk about whatever was on my mind. The blog was never intended to make any money and for the first eight months of its life it had total income of zero. In its first month as a monetized blog, John Chow dot Com made $352.94. Total Blog Income for October 2008 - $34,350.93″

Now that John is a high roller, living the Dot Com Lifestyle, he takes time to look over his shoulder and give to those around him.

Last month he raised over $6 000 for the Union Gospel Mission in just a few hours.

Today is World Diabetes Day, it also happens to be National Philanthropy Day.

It must have been a powerful luncheon, as John was inspired to pay it forward on World Diabetes / National Philanthropy Day.

With just a few quick tweets and clicks this afternoon, John donated $1 300 to Tanya Davis to top up the funds she was lacking in her Team Diabetes Disney World fundraising. Seconds was all it took.

Our personal resources may be different from John’s, but we can always remember where we are by looking over our shoulder and seeing those around us that need help.
