The Johnny Canuck V and the Vachon V may have some resemblance because they are both V logos with a human character looking to the right. However, it is just a coincidence, that's all. There are still more differences between the two logos. Having the recognizable head of the iconic Johnny Canuck with a V that represents the old Vancouver Millionaires and our beautiful city is a wonderful touch to the Canucks' future primary sweater. People need to stop whining and complaining. Forget about Vachon Cakes! It's a food brand, not a sports brand. Most people aren't familiar with Vachon products anyway, especially in the US. The Johnny Canuck V is part of our team's identity now and forever. I take huge pride in being a true blue Canucks fan and I am a proud Vancouverite. The JC V logo is a logo that true Vancouver Canucks fans should be proud of. Vachon Cakes or no Vachon Cakes. What's more important is seeing the Canucks hoist the Stanley Cup for the first time.

The revision to the fat C with the angled stick finally hits home IMO!!!!!
AS a kid I thought the Canucks stick and rink was the lamest logo in the league!
When I finally figured out that it was a really fat C I sort of got it but it was still lame. Increasing the width of the stick and angling it combined with the separation of the rink to really make the C shape obvious was a brilliant step. I just think they should have added a puck for the eye thus creating a whale's face. So now you have hockey, the C for Canucks and then the whale.
That said I HAVE HATED ALL VC LOGOS to date. They are all CRAP!!!! The old school colour scheme is excellent, and the third jersey is the best jersey they have ever designed. AND yes the V logo is very Vachon-like.
All that being said, my 10-year old has asked Santa for the third jersey. He loves it and he is a Pens fan.

I say we go back to black, orange, and yellow. That logo was amazing (plus the Canucks had a lot of success with that jersey).

Buzz,

I am very sorry, but I strongly disagree with your comparison between the Johnny Canuck V and the Vachon chef. First of all, the two Vs are very different. The Canuck V is block-styled to look like the Stick 'n Rink logo while the Vachon V is smaller and it's also rounded on the bottom with no outer border around the V. Second, the head is of that of the original Johnny Canuck of the old WHL. While JC and the chef are both looking to the right, but JC's head is bigger and right in the top centre of the V with no arm. The chef looks like he's sitting back while his bent arm forms the inner part of the V. While I love the original skating JC, but the JC-V has more of a simple NHL look to it. No other team in pro sports has a V logo and it's great that the Canucks can use their city's initial with the head of the character that bears its namesake.
As for the updated Stick 'n Rink, at first, I felt EXACTLY the same way you did. I thought the Stick was too cartoonish and crooked. That was because I loved the original Stick logo and I still do. However, the modified version has grown on me immensely and I will tell you why. First, the closed green border and the white inner border makes the crest look more bold. Second, the reason why the stick was modified was to make the Rink look more like a C. The Stick is not really bigger, it is really a close-up. Also, the angled position of the Stick makes it look like it's in action, ie, being picked up or blocking a shot. No question, it will take some getting used to, compared to the original, but it WILL grow on you. I also love the idea of keeping of not inverting the blue and white. The thickened white stripes also balances out the white in the logo.
Just to let you know, several teams in NHL history, especially the Original Six have gone through different incarnations of their crests and wordmarks and that includes the Rangers, Leafs, Red Wings, and Bruins. All the Canucks have done is go back to their roots and make a few alternations just to make a classic identity look more updated without going overboard. There is, thankfully, no Orca and vertical piping. Even the Vancouver Whitecaps modified their Ball on the Wave badge when they they went from 86ers back to the Whitecaps name.
I suggest printing out the image and getting yourself used to this look. It WILL grow on you, trust me. And this is coming from someone who, like you, loves the original classic look and the original skating Johnny Canuck. Take care and enjoy the hockey season.
