Just got this email press release from the Vancouver Canucks this afternoon:

VANCOUVER – It is hard to believe that 15 years have passed since Backstreet Boys redefined the modern musical landscape, ushering in a chapter of pop culture that commandeered the world’s radio airwaves, broke music and concert sales records and launched a new generation of teen idols for millions of youths.

Backstreet Boys have sold more than 75 million albums worldwide. They have scored a dozen Top 40 hits, including Top 5 smashes “Quit Playing Games (with My Heart),” “As Long As You Love Me,” “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” and “All I Have To Give.” “Unbreakable” marks the sixth album from Backstreet Boys. This release contains the indelible melodies of Backstreet Boys, hooks galore and finely crafted three-and-four part harmonics.

Girlicious are sassy, sexy, seductive and sweet and they have voices to match. When they move, the world moves around them. A year ago they were four strangers who shared a single dream. Today they are four best friends living that dream. They are more than just delicious, they are Girlicious and they are going to make you squirm with delight when they take the stage.

Don’t miss Backstreet Boys and Girlicious when they take the stage in Vancouver at General Motors Place on September 4th!

Vancouver has some great restaurant review websites.

Blogstar Raul prides himself on his copious amount of restaurant reviews. Tiny Bites is another site full of great photos and informative and fun reviews. Not to mention the searchable archives of the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Edition.

Look through all of them and there’s one restaurant you won’t find reviewed. The Brave Bull.

The Brave BullYou know the place, right on the corner of Clark and E Hastings. I’ve driven past it for decades and the prices have never changed, - still $8.95 for a steak dinner at this family restaurant, yet the parking lot is always empty. The sign still flips from open to closed, and the lights still come on - so someone is working there.

It’s a creepy, old building. There are windows, but they’re glazed yellow so you can’t see in. Up until today I had never actually seen anyone go in or come out, but at lunch time a construction worker was just walking out as I pulled up to the light. So it’ open. And it’s serving food. And people are leaving the place alive.

So, my challenge to you, restaurant reviewers of the Vancouver internets is: review The Brave Bull.

I’d do it, but I’m too damn scared.
