Trevor Linden to Announce Retirement Tomorrow

Just got this brief presser from the Canucks in my inbox. “A Special Announcement” can only mean “Good-bye.”

Vancouver Canucks forward Trevor Linden will make a special announcement at General Motors Place on Wednesday, June 11, 2008.

That’s all it said, the rest was just info for the media guys to get themselves sorted. It will happen at 11.

Here are 16 reasons why Trevor Linden is the Greatest Canuck.

  • He’ll remain a big part of the organization (and Vancouver) regardless. Classy guy, that Trev.

  • I could have seen him taking a Stevie Y-style role as VP or some such, but with Mike Gillis in there now, I don’t think it’ll happen (mostly because of their relationship when Linden was NHLPA prez.)

Nonetheless, Trev defines the Vancouver Canuck organization and I hope they keep him around in some capacity. We’ll miss him.

  • Will always love him. He’s our hero, forever. Sounds cheesy, but one of the few who lives up to the hype.
