I’ve got more than a few websites on these here internets. For 12 years I’ve been writing about technology and hosting a radio feature called cyberbuzz. Currently it airs across Canada, but has also aired in Africa, Australia and Europe.

I put most of my tech pieces over there, including archives of my radio features, columns for 24hrs and magazines.

Today I’ll double post one here for you.

CBC’s Test the Nation is back on Sunday night at 8. It’s a national pop quiz on current events to test your mettle against those from other lines of work.

This weekend its flight crews vs bloggers vs backpackers vs celebrity lookalikes vs chefs vs cab drivers.

Do chefs spend enough time outside the kitchen to have paid attention? Will the global travels of the backpackers and flight crews give them patience and perspective? Will the lookalikes ride on their fame to get them through the challenge? Cab drivers are often miscast due to language and political barriers, could they be a dark horse?

The only certainty is those who have actually written the history of the past decade will have the best shot at making it to the top of the class – Team Blog.

Kate Trgovac
from MyNameIsKate.ca echoes the call of many bloggers who agree we never really get unplugged from the information cycle.

“With wifi and a laptop, I don’t think I’m ever offline, you know, except for sleeping.”

The definition of blog is rather loose. A weblog can be about anything, and while most bloggers “get” technology, the similarities end there. My blogs range from personal stories about my son, to celebrity scandal to technological tidbits.

My local teammates include Rebecca of Miss604.com, who writes about Metro Vancouver and techology, Ryan Cousineau of Vancouver Metblogs and WiredCola.com, who admits his blog is “painfully general,” Kate of MyNameisKate.ca, who writes about marketing and technology, and Lainey Lui of LaineyGossip.com and eTalk, who is proud of her “PhD in gossip.”

Rebecca, Miss604.com, thinks the blogstars have the best chance to win the whole thing.

“Team blogger is the most diverse. Our team consists of all these people who do so many different things, of all ages and from all walks of life. Even though you know bloggers are online, we’re not all dialed-into the same thing and I think that will actually work to our advantage.”

The blogebrities are not the only ones waving the Vancouver flag, local chefs Karen Barnaby, David Hawksworth and Dale MacKay will also make the trip to Toronto.

CBC’s Test the Nation goes Sunday at 8p on CBC.
