Archive for January 4th, 2008

Welcome to the weekend, y'all.  Stressed after a 3 day week?  Here's what's on the radio:

    - Got a rock for Christmas? The Wedding Fair goes at the Trade and Convention Centre this weekend. It's like a mall with a cover charge. Skip it and enter Nat and Drew's $95 000 Wedding instead.

    - Canada is in the finals of the World Junior Hockey Championships for the 7th straight year.  We try to get our 4th Gold in a row tomorrow at 11a vs Sweden.

    - It's a weekend to bake. Why not bake The Best Cookies in the Galaxy.

    - There are two videos you MUST see today.
          1. Barack Obama's victory speech in Iowa.
          2. Kevin Federline trying to lose the paparazzi.
(okay, I know you want to see the Britney being taken to the hospital video too)

    - Pamela Anderson's divorce is on off on.  I think it's cause she's having an affair with Fin.

    - Survior: Fans v Faves has announced their cast.

buzz and tod, taken by miss 604

I am very excited to be off to the CBC in Toronto in a couple weeks for the next round of Test the Nation.

I’ll be representing the Blogosphere along with other notable locals like Tod Maffin (above) and Miss604 (took the pic).

The teams have been set for this round of Bloggers v Lookalikes v Backpackers v Cab Drivers v Flight Crews v Chefs.

However, there is another round of Test The Nation coming up, and you just might qualify. They’re looking for new Canadians, Olympic medallists, firefighters and more. So drop them a line and get on the next round.

In the meantime, set your PVR for January 20 at 8p and get ready to read a lot about the show.

Give a blogger a bit of love and they’ll write about it for a month.

That’s video of Kevin Federline blocking the ‘razzi from getting pictures of his kids as he drove back from the hospital last night.

Insane.

Someone is going to die in this drama, and I dont think it will be Britney.

It will be an innocent person. Someone driving their kids home from soccer practice when they get t-boned in an intersection by a papparazzo trying to weave around someone to get a picture.

In. Sane.

John Chow makes money online by telling people how much money he makes online. Last month he made over $25 000 from his blog. In 2007, he made over $180 000 and his estimates have that nearly doubling to $300 000 for 2008.

I’m reading John’s e-Book
, I’m using some of his methods and I’m trying to make money off this blog.

It’s early, and I’m micro analyzing stats, traffic and results. After a couple weeks of monetizing the blog, here are the totals:

It’s not the Numa Numa guy, otters holding hands, or a skateboarding dog.

It’s a speech. It’s less than 12 hours old, and it will be the most viewed YouTube video of the week, what happens over the next 5 weeks could make it the most watched of the year.

It’s brilliant, yes, personally I think he tried a little hard to channel MLK, but he’s smooth so it works.

Just because you can give a good speech doesnt mean you’ll be a good president. That said, skin colour and skirts don’t make you a good or bad president either. There are issues in this election, everyone still debates the surface stuff. Can we please be color and gender blind and get a reasonable debate on economic and foreign policy issues?

It’s embarassing to see analysts on CNN say that “blacks can now vote for this man because he has momentum.” I didnt know all blacks were cloned and have the same life philosophy, hopes and goals.

Get to the issues, America. Please.

bovI dunno about that, but let’s try just for fun! Late last year, I was selected as the Best Afternoon Drive Announcer in the Georgia Straight Readers’ Poll, now it’s time to stuff the ballot box again as the Canadian Blog Awards are coming down the calendar.

The Canadian Blog Awards have their nominations open until January 11. Simple to throw someone’s name in the hat, just pick the category they belong in and leave a post in the comments section.

My pal Meg is a previous award winner, I’d agree with that. Maybe we can get her another trophy for pageant trophy case. I’d also think Miss604 would be a good nominee, John Chow and Tod Maffin. Maybe *this* blog as “Best New Blog”?
