It’s true, this blog is not about me. It’s about you talking about me.

Seth Godin, The Lord and God of all this is Marketing and positive in the world, just posted this little nugget:

The truism of the web: people talking about you is far more effective than talking about yourself. [link]

Amen.

However, at the same time Seth often hails the usage of blogs for promotion and marketing and networking and spreading your message.

You have to talk about yourself to get people to talk about you, but it’s the second part of the equation that keeps the momentum going and has the most impact.

You can tell two friends, but it’s the so on and so on that really makes the magic. That’s why I have the tag line “Spread the word, ya heard?” This may be the Blog According to Buzz, but I need you to spread the Gospel.

Can I get an Amen?

The Blog According to Buzz. Spread the word, ya heard?.

One Response to “It’s Not About Me”
  1. Self-promotion is so obvious. Just do stuff people find interesting — or try to — and then let it be. And ask them what they think… I think the key to understanding anything and getting anywhere in life is learning to ask the right questions, and letting the conversation grow into something bigger from there.

And Seth Godin told me not to monetize my blog, just fyi. :D
