It’s year end list time. A time of year when too cool for school critics tell you there picks for the best of the year. The criteria - it has to be so obscure that you’ve never heard of it, allowing them to rise above as the only one with enough creative taste to discover the tracks.
Rolling Stone has their Top 100 songs of the year out, of the Top 10 I’ve heard two songs; Rhianna and Amy Winehouse. Apparently I’m not cool.
2 “A Few Words in Defense of Our Country” Randy Newman
3 “Umbrella” Rihanna
4 “D.A.N.C.E.” Justice
5 “Four Winds” Bright Eyes
6 “Dough Is What I Got” Lil Wayne
7 “Rehab” Amy Winehouse
8 “Long Walk Home” Bruce Springsteen
9 “Boyz” M.I.A.
10 “Int’l Player’s Anthem” UGK
I’m getting so up there and music tastes have remained stagnant. I dont even know what year albums come out anymore. I’m still hammering the stink out of Moby’s Hotel. Madonna’s Confessions and Zero 7’s The Garden.
My fave albums for the year are from Feist, Radiohead, Annie Lennox and Seal. Come to think of it, those are the only new albums I got this year. I guess I’m a little more particular now.
