I wrote a piece in 24hrs Vancouver today about some ways you can use the web for charitable purposes this Christmas.

One of the sites is Give MeaningCheck out the post on cyberbuzz to learn more.

The previous post about the Rolling Stone Top 100 for the year got me thinking to go and dig deeper into my archives.

I cracked open my iTunes and sorted my music according to “Most Played.” Theoretically, these should be my most favourite songs for the year.

They are:

  1. Zero 7 - Destiny
  2. Hardkandy - Stand Still
  3. The White Stripes - My Doorbell
  4. Kosheen - Gone
  5. Language Lab - Burning Disaster
  6. Bliss - Kissing
  7. Moby - Temptation
  8. Morcheeba - Blindfold
  9. Morcheeba - Undress Me Now
  10. Zero 7 - Futures

All of those songs are on my “chill” playlist. 4 of the ten are on the mixed chill album, Later. It’s the kind of groove I’m into.

It’s year end list time. A time of year when too cool for school critics tell you there picks for the best of the year. The criteria - it has to be so obscure that you’ve never heard of it, allowing them to rise above as the only one with enough creative taste to discover the tracks.

Rolling Stone has their Top 100 songs of the year out, of the Top 10 I’ve heard two songs; Rhianna and Amy Winehouse. Apparently I’m not cool.

1 “Roc Boys” Jay-Z
2 “A Few Words in Defense of Our Country” Randy Newman
3 “Umbrella” Rihanna
4 “D.A.N.C.E.” Justice
5 “Four Winds” Bright Eyes
6 “Dough Is What I Got” Lil Wayne
7 “Rehab” Amy Winehouse
8 “Long Walk Home” Bruce Springsteen
9 “Boyz” M.I.A.
10 “Int’l Player’s Anthem” UGK

I’m getting so up there and music tastes have remained stagnant. I dont even know what year albums come out anymore. I’m still hammering the stink out of Moby’s Hotel. Madonna’s Confessions and Zero 7’s The Garden.

My fave albums for the year are from Feist, Radiohead, Annie Lennox and Seal. Come to think of it, those are the only new albums I got this year. I guess I’m a little more particular now.

Yes, a less than classic album title from Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, Starship, but also the phrase I like to drop when I’m up to my eyeballs in a project.

Here I am, on Christmas vacation. Yet last night I was up until past midnight, and this morning I’m up around 6a doing what I always do - sitting on the computer.

I picked a rather odd time of year to redo my web portfolio, but I finally had Wordpress uploaded on my servers, so I just dove into what I’ve been dying to do for 5 months now - monetize the blogs, clean them up and blog my ass off. I want to be John Chow meets Perez Hilton meets Meg Fowler meets Buzz Bishop.

So you have the new look for buzzbishop.com, the addition of a blog, and now a combined cyberbuzz empire which will host all my tv, print and radio columns.

Knee deep in the hoopla? More like up to my neck in css and php.

While In Touch continues to trumpet that Britney is pregnant, her baby sis, Jamie Lynn, has come out to OK! Magazine saying she’s the one who’s 3 mos along.

Someone strike up the banjo and get this family on Maury. At least she knows who the baby daddy is, Casey Aldridge. Who? Yeah, it doesn’t matter cause the story is going to be all about Britney’s 16 yr old sister getting knocked up.

I’m glad she’s out about it. It means she won’t have one of those “medical procedures” to remedy the problem.

I’m pro choice. It’s not my place to regulate your body, but as someone who had an unplanned pregnancy and someone who lives with someone who was adopted and as someone who is wanting to adopt, my opinion on abortion has considerably softened.

I’d really like to see more support given to adoption as an option. When Jen was adopted 35 yrs ago, snagging a cute kid was easy. Trying to adopt in BC in 2007 is a little more difficult which is why more and more people are choosing the overseas route, which is expensive.

Congrats Mrs Lynne Spears, you raised some pretty wild and crazy girls - can’t wait to read that book on parenting you’re writing! At least they have the sense to bring their babies into the world. Now, I’d be glad to adopt the little bebe and get him/her out of the tabloid hellstorm your daughters insist on perpetuating.
