I wasnt really paying attention to The View this morning, (I was making Zacharie’s weekly meals of turnip, prunes and broccoli) but it was in the background and I caught bits and pieces.
Basically the gang got into a discussion about minority and religious candidates and whether or not they can speak for more than just their segment of the population. (ie, can a black President speak for hispanics? can a woman speak for men? can a Mormon speak for Jews?)
I would think to Canadians this would seem like a ridiculous concept. Although the Conservatives would like you to think a Quebecer (Dion) can’t speak for Canada.
The Americans spend so much time pigeon holing each other into demographic groups that they lose sight of the big picture. They run around labelling each tree forgetting there is a beautiful and varied forest sitting right in front of their face.
Barbara got out of the discussion this morning by saying “look how far we’ve come, we have a woman and an African American running for President.”
Whoop de frickin do, Babs.
Women and blacks have been running countries around the world for centuries, glad you guys could get over your “issues” and join the party.
Anyhow, to my point.
While Barbara was beaming about “how far we’ve come.” I’d like to show you just how far they’ve slipped back. Jessica Simpson wants to be taken seriously as an actress. Her last few flicks have bombed or gone straight to DVD. So how is she going to make it in H’wood?
She’s getting lots of offers to get naked and that’s pretty much the only way she’ll ever be a box office draw.
